History

Name

Masada, Philonianum, Laenius

History

Brindisi, History is Wine. We chose to label the wines produced from the indigenous vines of Brindisi inspired by the legendary fortress in Judea, Masada, where fragments of wine amphorae from Brindisi were found. The name of the wine of the king of Israel was Philonianum and came from a particular vineyard that produced refined oenological products. The winemaker’s name was Laenius and he belonged to a family from Brindisi (Brundisium), as the finds attest.

Name

Nyroca, Tuffetto, Miriglione, Avocetta

History

The winery and vineyards are a stone’s throw from an artificial lake that is a protected oasis for a variety of migratory and aquatic birds, and we have dedicated a line of labels to some of them. The Nyroca, Tuffetto, Moriglione and Avocetta labels are named after some of the migratory and aquatic birds that nest and winter next to our vineyards, in the wildlife oasis of Lake Cillarese.

Name

Grigiombra, Fuoco Rosa

History

Art, poetry and reflection on mankind form the basis of the creation of these labels. Grigiombra and Fuoco Rosa were born on the occasion of a significant event in our short and personal history as a winery. This line embraces experimentation, the creative insights of our group and inspiration drawn from the world around us.

The Vineyard

The vines, carefully selected to suit the unique soil and climate of this area, grow luxuriantly between Lake Cillarese and the Adriatic Sea. The breeze from these waters helps create an ideal microclimate for optimal grape ripening, giving our wines a distinctive character and unique profile. We have chosen to cultivate mainly varieties native to Brindisi and the Salento area. With the purchase of this land, we inherited a hectare of Negroamaro over sixty years old, cultivated with the alberello system, with which we produce a wine, Masada, which is somewhat of a symbol of our winery. We also grow Susumaniello, Malvasia Nera di Brindisi, Primitivo, Minutolo and Vermentino.
