Organic wines, between history and territory along the ancient Appian Way

Known as the first highway in history, the Appian Way forever transformed the landscape it crossed. What was once winding countryside became a new, orderly world of roads, fields, and vineyards.

It stretched from Rome to Brindisi, not merely as a final destination, but as a true gateway to the Mediterranean. From here, travelers, merchants, and new ideas set out, spreading the spirit of Rome beyond the sea.

An experience among territory, wine and history

In July 2024, the Appian Way (Via Appia Antica), together with its final stretch in the Brindisi area, was recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, enhancing one of the main historical connections between Rome and the Mediterranean.

In this context, Appia Wine Road was created — a shared project among local wineries that brings together wine, history, and landscape.

The initiative offers a system of integrated wine tourism experiences along the route of the Appian Way and the Via Traiana, with the aim of providing visitors with a contemporary interpretation of the territory through winery visits, tastings, and thematic itineraries.
